The Wood Stove ChangeOut Program number @ 1-877-992-5833
Customers must call this number to confirm that rebate money is still available, that their old appliance qualifies, to check if they are in the Williams Lake Airshed and to receive a tracking number. If the coordinator at this number is not available they will get back to you the next business day. Please leave a message.
Step 2: Shop
When you are ready to shop for your new low-emission heating appliance, contact a participating retailer to arrange purchase.
An old wood appliance must be exchanged for an approved wood, pellet, gas, or electric appliance: check this site for approved products. Participating retailers will also have a copy.
Check here to find out what does and does not qualify.
Be sure to obtain a receipt from the retailer for your new heating appliance.
Step 3. Apply for a permit to install your new wood stove
Visit the City of Williams Lake or the Cariboo Regional District to apply for this permit. Mention that you are participating in the Wood Stove ChangeOut Program which qualifies you for a rebate of the permit fee. You will be required to provide your tracking number (from Step 1.) when you apply as part of the permit fee rebate process. A cheque will be mailed to you once you have completed the requirements set out on this page and met with the Williams Lake Coordinator.
Step 4: Take a Photo
You must take a picture of the old appliance burning wood, and take a picture of the newly installed appliance burning in the same location to get the rebate.
Step 5: Remove the Door if Applicable
Remove the door from your old appliance (if applicable) and keep it for the Williams Lake coordinator – Tammy Keetch: e-mail: info@breatheasywilliamslake.org or phone 250-620-0598.
Step 6: Disposal
Take your old appliance minus the door to Williams Lake Scrap Metal Recycling at 4015 Frizzi Road, Williams Lake, BC (whether by you or the installer). Please call before you go to be sure someone is there – 250-398-5730. They will unload your stove and provide you with a receipt.
Step 7: Receive Your Rebate
Meet with your Williams Lake coordinator, Tammy Keetch (250-620-0598) with your:
1. Permit – from the City or CRD
2. Picture of old appliance burning, and picture of new appliance burning
3. Old appliance door
4. Receipt for your new wood stove
5. Plus receipt from the Recycler
Your coordinator will complete your paper work with you and issue a rebate cheque immediately.
NOTE: Rebate money is limited therefore those that meet with the coordinator to complete the paperwork are eligible first.
Only customers within the Williams Lake Airshed are eligible for the $300
rebate from the Air Quality Roundtable.
